The ‘Wetenschapsbattle’ (Battle of the Scientists) is the world’s most fun presentation competition with five scientists presenting their research to thousands of children. By doing this, these brave scientists will learn to explain their research clearly and a receive free presentation training by The Floor is Yours.
The Floor is Yours asked us to design and build them a website that captured the playful, energetic character of the event while still being professional and easy to navigate. We created a vibrant identity with bold colours, large type, and fun illustrations that reflect the curiosity and joy of science.

Accessibility was central: clear contrasts, simple language, and mobile-first design ensuring the site works for everyone, whether it’s a child browsing on a tablet or a teacher preparing materials on a laptop. The result is a site that feels lively and approachable, while still conveying the professionalism and credibility of the initiative.
To keep the site fresh, light and playful we used these whimsical illustrations throughout.
For the typography and color palette we went with fresh colours, a bold font for the headings and opted for legibility and simplicity for all paragraph texts.
The theme of the Wetenschapsbattle changes from year to year, so we made several animated headers on topics like education, food, or— as seen below—space.
Since the objective is to have both schools and scientists register for the event, the site features several forms optimized for quick entry and submission.
