Webdesign and branding for an online magazine
Having worked for several years as a freelance Art Director, Bird’s Eye co-owner, Jozefien Daelemans decided that the majority of magazines on the Flemish market didn’t appeal to her, so she decided to make her own and Charlie Magazine was born.
What started out small, quickly grew with more and more people wanting to join the Charlie Magazine editorial staff and several stories getting picked up by traditional news outlets both in print and on tv; a grassroots movement was born! The initial website, a vanilla WordPress install with a premium magazine theme, started buckling under the shear weight of visitors and a redesign and optimization was in order. We decided to step up our game and launched a successful crowdfunding campaign. With the proceeds we updated our hosting, and rebuilt the site from the ground up, adding our own custom components and designs.
